Large Stoneware Early Victorian Cottage Moneybox, circa.1840s
An impressive, larger moneybox, heavily press moulded with detailed decoration in two tones with extended gables, bricks picked out, period windows, front door and slated roof, the chimney stack forms the slot for the pennies. There are also randomly trailing tendrils of ivy picked out in a cobalt blue. Freely handwritten underneath in contemporary script is the name ‘Nellie’ and the initials ‘GR’. There is already an old coin left in to help start your collection.
7” W x 3.75” D x 4.25” H O/A approx.
Very good condition with minor wear commensurate with age and use. Nellie obviously took great care of this charming save-all.
