Fishleys of Fremington Baking Bowl, North Devon, England, Mid-To-Late 19th C.
Here we have a wonderful large oval baking bowl by the Fishleys, decorated in a wet sgraffito technique, skilled decoration applied with three thin flexible whale bone prongs joined together. With superb markings to the outside of the bowl from the flames in the kiln, rare in this size and condition.
Last half of the 19th century
12’’ L x 11 ¼’’ W x 4’’ H o/a approx.
Very good, with only two tight and small stable hairlines and minor wear commensurate with age and use.
