Here we have a rare and delightful documentary Hen and Chickens slipware ornamental top hat tobacco jar, complete with tamper (a weight for keeping the tobacco moist inside the pot), in the past an essential part of relaxation in everyday life for working men.
Made at this date, by the Kitsons of Woodman House, Elland, Halifax, Yorkshire, sliptrailed “Charles Broadhurst 1882”. Wonderful.

In good condition with minimal wear commensurate with age and use.
