A Posy Basket, Verwood Pottery, Dorset, England, Early 1900s
An outstanding and rare example of a Verwood posy or flower basket from the early 1900s. Ideal for displaying flowers, these were originally made for the local communities but their popularity spread until they became fashionable with London buyers and were retailed through Liberty and Co.
A superb pot with the rarer rouletted pattern around the inside of the rim with impressed stars at the base of the handle, also with the marvellous impressed “Verwood” provenance to the base.
Highly collectable and sought after.
6.25” W x 4.5” H x 5” D O/A approx.
