A Superb Farnham Owl Jug, Surrey, England, Late 19th Century

Description

Today we have for sale an owl jug in the beautiful copper-green glaze, a rarity in this extremely good condition, one for the collectors.

Made by Absalom and William Freemantle Harris, brothers at the Farnham Potteries, who made a wide variety of ornamental wares including animals, produced during the late 19th century.
The most popular glaze-ware items during this period of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau were those with owl faces.

A large range of Farnham wares including the owl jugs appear in the Liberty & Co. catalogues of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
