A Rare Ornamental Slipware Flowerpot Stand, Halifax, England, Mid-to-Late 19th C.

Description

Here we have a superb Halifax flowerpot stand. These were made and sold singly as well as with an accompanying flowerpot or in order to find a replacement water tray for any other spare flowerpots.

Made in a wide variety of styles, the potters manged to make even a humble flowerpot base into an outstanding statement piece, to show off their skills.

Our splendid flowerpot stand has a variety of uses, such as storing small and interesting collections that you might happen to have around the house, such as three examples of mine; taws (old handmade marbles), old knurr and spell balls (a wonderful type of early golf) or as in the tiny Soil Hill pancheon, pot eggs (used in coops for training hens).

It would make an ideal Christmas present for anybody needing a base for their flowerpot or anybody with a small collection of taws or pot eggs or similar nick-nacks!
